Research Posters
Call for Research Posters
The Southern Region of the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) invites researchers to submit an abstract for consideration in the Research Poster Session at the 2026 Southern Region Conference. Selected researchers will prepare and display a poster describing their study and will be present during the session to discuss their work and answer questions from attendees. This session offers an opportunity to showcase new and emerging scholarship prior to publication, highlighting the most current research in the field.
Research topics should relate to choral music or choral music education, including but not limited to:
-
- Rehearsal techniques and best practices
- Conducting and performance practice
- Repertoire and programming
- Pedagogy and teacher education
- Other topics relevant to choral music
Research submissions must meet the following guidelines:
-
- The research must not have been presented at another major conference.
- If portions of the data or findings have been presented elsewhere, include a brief statement specifying where and when.
- The research may be submitted for publication, but it must not be in print or in press prior to the conference submission deadline.
Projects may employ historical, quantitative, qualitative, or mixed methods but must go beyond a simple review of literature.
-
- Empirical studies should follow the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (7th ed., 2020).
- Other types of studies may follow A Manual for Writers of Term Papers, Theses, and Dissertations (9th ed., 2018) or The Chicago Manual of Style (16th or 17th ed., 2010/2017).
Submission Guidelines
-
- Submit your abstract (500 words or fewer) using the online Poster Submission Form.
- Include the study’s purpose, method, and—if available—results and conclusions. All studies must be completed at the time of presentation.
- Draft your abstract in a word processing program, then copy and paste it into the form. (Do not type directly into the submission box.)
- Submission Deadline: 11:59 p.m. CST on December 12, 2025. Incomplete or late submissions will not be accepted.
Presenter Information
Presenters must be current members of ACDA and are responsible for their own travel, food, and conference registration expenses. Submission indicates your commitment to attend and present if selected.
